OPEN TRAININGS – Both members and non-members are welcome!

The open training sessions take place on Friday evenings from 19:30 to 20:30.
The cost is €6.00 as a PSV member and €8.00 as a non-member.

Do you want to train extra in addition to your lesson? Or maybe you are not a member, but you would like to dive off the competition boards of the Pieter van den Hoogenband swimming stadium? Then come to our open training! During the open training you can dive for 1 hour from the one- and three-meter board, as well as from the three- and five-meter tower. Someone will be present to supervise and guide you, but don’t expect a lesson. However, if you want to have proper training, you can bring your own trainer.

The open training sessions take place every Friday from 19:30 to 20:30. Preparations start at 19:15. Payment must be made with debit card before the start of the training in the swimming pool, or in the seating area if your parent/supervisor pays. Once in the pool, you need to demonstrate your swimming skills by swimming up and down. You must have at least your swimming diploma A.

Due to the group size, we ask you to register in advance by sending an email to secr@psvschoonspringen.nl.

Trial lessons
We also first invite children who want a trial lesson to the open training sessions. By participating in these training sessions a few times, you will already be introduced to diving off the board. If that feels good and a child wants to continue, we will look at the intake options together with the trainers.

ABOUT PSV DIVING

Diving is a beautiful sport to watch but much nicer and exciting to do. It is a small sport in the Netherlands however this is now changing. PSV Diving does not have more than 60 members yet but is one of the biggest diving clubs in the country.

We train in “Pieter van den Hoogenband” in Eindhoven. One of the pools here has a diving platform and springboards; and we also have a dry training facility as well as a gym to lift weight to get stronger and gain flexibility.

We are a competition-oriented association where performance and achievement are important for us at every level. We have several groups for this sport; from beginners to the most experienced group, and the know-how and practice is for every group to ensure that everyone enjoys and improves in the sport. Most of our trainers are certified or are in training. Many of them are experienced divers themselves, and some still practice the sport.

Our groups are divided according to age or talent. Our first group is recreational; the focus here is to teach basic techniques of diving. This group is for kids from 7 years of age, and they train 1 to 3 days per week.

For those with a diving potential and drive, there are 2 groups. These groups train 3 to 6 days per week. These divers enter a program where they have national and international competitions. Finally, we also have a Master’s group which trains twice weekly.

What do you need? Bathing suit, sandals, shorts, t-shirt, socks, and a towel.

Monthly contribution varies according to the group.  Please send an email for any inquiries: secr@psvschoonspringen.nl.

In short, diving is a water sport where you must dive from a springboard or platform in a specific way or style in the most beautiful and neat way possible. These dives are graded by judges taking into consideration certain aspects such as take-off (hurdle), technique and landing.  For each dive you need to develop many skills. Divers can choose from springboard 1 and 3 meter; or/and the tower 5, 7.5 and 10 meters.

Well-known Dutch divers are Edwin and Daphne Jongejans.  Edwin was world champion in 1989 and in 1995 he was European champion of the 1mt springboard. He also competed two times in the Olympics. His sister Daphne competed 3 times in the Olympic games obtaining an 8th place.

In 2016 Uschi Freitag represented the Netherlands in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

In 2021 Inge Jansen and Celine van Duijn, both from PSV, competed in the Tokyo Olympics!
